🌸 A Spring Update from the Studio
I’m welcoming spring and all of the beauty it brings. I’m slowly getting back to painting and creating fine art prints.
After a long stretch of sickness in our home (goodbye flu!), I had to press pause to rest. Now it feels like time to reset. I’m easing back into painting and creating.
I’m beginning to find my rhythm again, and it feels good to be back with new creative energy.
🌼 Wilmington Art Association Spring Show
Earlier in April, I had the opportunity to be part of the Wilmington Art Association’s 44th Annual Spring Show. It was held during the North Carolina Azalea Festival.
Two of my paintings, Beauty Makes a Sound and The In-Between, were on display. They hung alongside many beautiful works from local artists.
It was such a meaningful experience to see these pieces outside of my studio. The space was filled with art, conversation, community, and azaleas. There’s something special about seeing many aesthetics, styles, and perspectives in one place. I love experiencing the creative community here in Wilmington.
The juried show was held at the Hannah Block Community Arts Center. It included original paintings (acrylic, oil, watercolor), photography, mixed media, and 3D creations like pottery, woodwork, and glasswork. Participating artists also brought bin work with art prints available for purchase. If you'd like a closer look, you can:
Here are a few pictures from the exhibit.
🌻 How Paintings and Fine Art Prints Can Transform a Space
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how artwork doesn’t just decorate a wall. It changes the feeling of a room and tells a story.
I’ve had my Sunflower Field painting hanging in our dining room. I keep noticing the way it catches the light throughout the day. In the morning, the yellow oils and warm wood tones feel bright and joyful. In the evening, it softens the space in a different way.
It’s a simple refresh, but it adds something meaningful to the rhythm of our home. It feels like a smile each time I walk by.
If you’ve ever wondered how original art or fine art prints might feel in your space, start with one piece.
🌸 Looking Ahead: Studio + New Work
As I plan for spring and summer, I’m hopeful these seasons will hold more time for painting.
One project I’m currently working on is redesigning my art studio space. This room was once our guest room and nursery. I have a few ideas I’m really excited about and hope to share some before-and-afters soon.
I’m also preparing for upcoming events and submitting artwork to exhibits. I’m finishing a new marsh painting that’s been slowly taking shape.
