Hiding Place (Gallery Wrap Canvas)

In creating this painting, I was inspired by many aspects of life ~ nature, my daughter, and Scripture. My reference photo for this piece was of a little fawn nestled among the grasses and spotted in my mother-in-law’s neighborhood. She looks so safe where her mother tucked her in. She is also vulnerable in the waiting for her mother’s return. I later learned that a mother deer hides her fawn from predators among tall grasses, sometimes for a few days, while she temporarily ventures away to forage for food. My daughter’s favorite animal is a deer and I knew she would treasure this painting. She has already claimed it for her room!

This sweet scene also quickly drew my thoughts to the passage from Psalms 32:7-8 “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” What a comfort we can have in knowing that our Heavenly Father is always with us, He goes before us and He never abandons us.
