The idea for this piece came alive after visiting a sunflower field with my family at a local NC farm in the summer of 2019. I have the best memories of my children (then 5, 3 and 16 months old) exploring and toddling through the sunflower rows craning high above their sweet little heads. We had so much fun picking our own flowers and visiting the farm animals and silos.
I saw so many butterflies and bees alight on the sunflowers. It was this detail that I beheld ~ a snapshot I knew I wanted to paint one day. It was a gentle reminder to me in the midst of young family life and raising littles to make time ~ time to really see the beauty before us. It is always there, if I only pause to take it in. I hope this painting brightens your day.
